Learning from Engineers at the Front Line of Society
The Department of Applied Physics & Chemical Engineering offers courses taught not only by university faculty members but also by professionals working at the forefront of research institutes and industry.
Examples include:
- Image Information Engineering: learning how image-processing technologies are applied in society
- Engineering Drawing and Design Practice: learning the fundamentals of engineering design and manufacturing
- Engineering Ethics: exploring the responsibilities and decision-making expected of engineers
Some of these courses are taught by specialists with professional experience in areas such as forensic science, large-scale engineering projects, energy systems, and infrastructure development.
These classes help students understand how science and engineering learned at university are applied to real-world challenges. University education is not only about acquiring knowledge, but also about understanding how that knowledge contributes to society and future careers.
