We are pleased to share that three currently active faculty members from our department have been recognized in the Updated Science-Wide Author Databases of Standardized Citation Indicators (Version 7), published on September 19, 2025. This database, developed by J. P. A. Ioannidis (Stanford University) and colleagues, ranks scientists globally based on career-long citation impact, using Scopus (Elsevier) data as of August 1, 2025.
Each recognized researcher is classified by their top-ranked subfields and broader scientific domains using the Science-Metrix system, which includes 22 fields and 174 subfields. The three active researchers in our department are ranked in areas such as:
- Physical Chemistry, Energy, (and the broader field of Chemistry)
- Environmental Sciences, Biotechnology, (and Earth & Environmental Sciences)
- Materials, Chemical Engineering, (and Enabling & Strategic Technologies)
In addition, four former faculty members (Emeritus Professors) from our department—who contributed significantly—are also listed in the database. Their research spanned fields such as:
- Chemical Engineering, Energy, (and the broader field of Engineering)
- Environmental Sciences, Environmental Engineering, (Earth & Environmental Sciences)
- Applied Physics, Materials, (Physics & Astronomy)
- Physical Chemistry, Energy, (Chemistry)
This recognition reflects the long-standing excellence and diversity of research in our department, across both foundational and applied sciences.
About TUAT:
TUAT is a compact, national university with a total enrollment of around 6,000 students, including 3,812 in the Bachelor course, 1,496 in the Master’s course, and 637 in the Doctoral course (2025 data). TUAT consistently ranks among Japan’s top institutions, often placing in the top 3 for industry collaboration, research output, and patent royalty among over 780 universities nationwide.
As of May 1, 2025, 28 of TUAT’s 388 full-time faculty members (approximately 7.2%) are listed among the top 2% of scientists worldwide (Career-Long Impact) in their respective fields.
About the Ranking
The selection is based on the top 100,000 scientists by c-score (with and without self-citations) or a percentile rank of 2% or above in the sub-field.
