Nur Mawaddah, Dadan Suhendar, Yuta Tanaka, Keishi Kitada) and faculty members from the Department of Applied Physics and Chemical Engineering, Graduate School of Engineering, at Tokyo University of Agriculture and Technology, along with Associate Professor Satria Zulkarnaen Bisri from the Division of Advanced Electrical and Electronic Engineering and Professors Hiroki Minoda and Toshiki Shimizu from the Division of Advanced Physical Engineering, have revealed that different crystal compositions of AgBiS\u2082 nanocrystals\u2014an environmentally friendly material with potential applications in solar cells and photodetectors\u2014can be synthesized depending on the reaction temperature.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This research enables more precise control over the synthesis of AgBiS\u2082 nanocrystals. Moreover, photodetectors fabricated using this material demonstrated a high responsivity of 37 A\/W, surpassing previously reported devices based on similar materials.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Previously, semiconductor nanomaterials containing mercury (Hg), cadmium (Cd), or lead (Pb) have been studied; however, these metals pose significant environmental and health risks. In contrast, AgBiS\u2082 nanocrystals composed of silver (Ag), bismuth (Bi), and sulfur (S) are gaining attention as environmentally benign materials, though challenges remain in improving device performance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In this study, X-ray diffraction (XRD) and high-resolution transmission electron microscopy (HR-TEM) analyses showed that AgBiS\u2082 nanocrystals can be obtained by synthesizing at temperatures exceeding 160\u00b0C.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Future work will focus on developing size control techniques for nanocrystals to realize environmentally friendly, high-performance
