The new method uses ionic liquids and microwave irradiation to exfoliate graphite, the material from which graphene is made. The resulting graphene is of high quality and can be used to make solid acid catalysts for the saccharification of cellulose, which is the process of converting cellulose into sugars. They are non-flammable and have low volatility, making them safer to work with than traditional solvents.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>\u30de\u30a4\u30af\u30ed\u6ce2\u7167\u5c04\uff1a<\/strong>&nbsp;\u6750\u6599\u3092\u8fc5\u901f\u304b\u3064\u5747\u4e00\u306b\u52a0\u71b1\u3059\u308b\u305f\u3081\u306b\u4f7f\u7528\u3067\u304d\u308b\u96fb\u78c1\u653e\u5c04\u306e\u4e00\u7a2e\u3067\u3059\u3002<strong>Microwave irradiation:<\/strong>&nbsp;A type of electromagnetic radiation that can be used to heat materials quickly and evenly.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>\u5265\u96e2\uff1a<\/strong>&nbsp;\u6750\u6599\u306e\u5c64\u3092\u5265\u304c\u3059\u30d7\u30ed\u30bb\u30b9\u306e\u3053\u3068\u3067\u3059\u3002<strong>Exfoliation:<\/strong>&nbsp;Process of splitting layers of a material apart.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong><strong>\u30b0\u30e9\u30d5\u30a7\u30f3\uff1a<\/strong>&nbsp;\u516d\u89d2\u5f62\u683c\u5b50\u72b6\u306b\u914d\u5217\u3055\u308c\u305f\u70ad\u7d20\u539f\u5b50\u306e\u4e00\u5c64\u3002\u79d1\u5b66\u7684\u306b\u77e5\u3089\u308c\u3066\u3044\u308b\u4e2d\u3067\u6700\u3082\u5f37\u304f\u3066\u8efd\u3044\u6750\u6599\u306e\u4e00\u3064\u3067\u3059\u3002Graphene:<\/strong>&nbsp;A single layer of carbon atoms arranged in a hexagonal lattice. It is one of the strongest and lightest materials known to science.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>\u56fa\u4f53\u9178\u89e6\u5a92\uff1a<\/strong>&nbsp;\u9178\u3092\u4f34\u3046\u5316\u5b66\u53cd\u5fdc\u3092\u52a0\u901f\u3067\u304d\u308b\u6750\u6599\u3067\u3059\u3002<strong>Solid acid catalyst:<\/strong>&nbsp;A  material that can speed up chemical reactions that involve acids.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>\u7cd6\u5316\uff1a<\/strong>&nbsp;\u30bb\u30eb\u30ed\u30fc\u30b9\u3092\u7cd6\u306b\u5909\u63db\u3059\u308b\u30d7\u30ed\u30bb\u30b9\u3002\u30bb\u30eb\u30ed\u30fc\u30b9\u306f\u690d\u7269\u7d30\u80de\u58c1\u306e\u4e3b\u6210\u5206\u3067\u3059\u3002<strong>Saccharification:<\/strong>&nbsp;Process of converting cellulose into sugars. Cellulose is the main component of plant cell walls.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The researchers in this study used ionic liquids to dissolve the graphite and then used microwave irradiation to heat the solution. This caused the graphite to exfoliate, producing graphene. The graphene was then oxidized and sulfonated to produce solid acid catalysts. \u92ad\u7814\u7a76\u5ba4\u306e\u7814\u7a76\u8005\u305f\u3061\u306f\u3001\u30a4\u30aa\u30f3\u6db2\u4f53\u3092\u4f7f\u7528\u3057\u3066\u30b0\u30e9\u30d5\u30a1\u30a4\u30c8\u3092\u6eb6\u89e3\u3057\u3001\u6b21\u306b\u30de\u30a4\u30af\u30ed\u6ce2\u7167\u5c04\u3092\u4f7f\u7528\u3057\u3066\u6eb6\u6db2\u3092\u52a0\u71b1\u3057\u307e\u3057\u305f\u3002\u3053\u308c\u306b\u3088\u308a\u30b0\u30e9\u30d5\u30a1\u30a4\u30c8\u304c\u5265\u96e2\u3057\u3001\u30b0\u30e9\u30d5\u30a7\u30f3\u304c\u751f\u6210\u3055\u308c\u307e\u3057\u305f\u3002\u6b21\u306b\u3001\u30b0\u30e9\u30d5\u30a7\u30f3\u3092\u9178\u5316\u304a\u3088\u3073\u30b9\u30eb\u30db\u30f3\u5316\u3057\u3066\u56fa\u4f53\u9178\u89e6\u5a92\u3092\u751f\u6210\u3057\u307e\u3057\u305f\u3002<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The researchers tested the catalytic activity of the graphene catalysts for the saccharification of cellulose.
