Dr. Masayuki Horio has been active not only in the field of energy and environment in the Society of Chemical Engineers (SCEJ), but also in national, municipal, and related academic societies, contributing to the international presence of the Society in both academic and industrial fields. In the Society (SCEJ), he received the Research Award in 2001, founded the Fluidized Bed Research Group, and was involved in the establishment of the Particle Fluid Division and served as its chairman (2008-9). In the Energy Division, he has been a member of the Coal Utilization Technology Research Group since its establishment. As for international activities, he served as Editor-in-Chief of the English Journal of SCEJ from 1997 to 2000, and contributed to the development of a new style of English journal. He also served as Regional Editor of Powder Technology (Elsevier, 1997-2008), organized various international conferences, including a multidisciplinary integration session at the World Social Science Forum (2018), and received the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE) Particle He has received numerous international awards, including the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE) Particle Technology Forum Fluor Daniel Lectureship Award.
